You have to remember that they have both played without Steve Smith against two of the best defenses in the league. I suspect that either of them will look a lot better when they get Smith back and we play some weaker defenses that we have game planned for.

    >>those stats are good, but skewed... we beat Tampa who sucked, we lost to NE who was fighting for a play-off spot, and then we beat Minn, NYG, and NO who I think had already made the play-offs...

How is that skewed? We beat two teams competing for seeding and/or a playoff spot.

    >>I should see him in more control of this offense, not highlites of him playing golf saying I'm a regular guy.....they both have 35 QB rating this preseason

This offense has issues beyond the quarterback. It has for some time. The lack of a second recieving didn't just go away cause we changed quarterbacks.

    >>I'm seeing a physically more capable QB in Clausen, more poise, better handle on the playbook, quicker release, stronger arm, quicker feet...

I don't really see a stronger arm with Clausen, if anything Moore throws a tighter, more consistent ball. But to be fair, neither quarterback has been given a lot to work with in the passing game between the O-line and the recievers.

All we really need from out QB is to be smart with the ball and limit turnovers. If he can hit Smith every now and then for a big play then great. Our offense will live and die once again with the running game. DW looks solid to me and Stewart will probably be solid again too. I am not that worried. It does not look like we have a guy any better than Moose was last year on the roster now. Hopefully Lafell or Jarrett can improve during the season and show something.

It shouldn't take Clausen long to stop trying to zip throws past the ears of D-lineman, and calm down with all the jolting and bolting. He is going to make rookie mistakes for a while (the guy IS just a rookie) so he should be graded on that curve. I thought he'd thrown his first pick six vs the jets . .. it'll probably happen at some point in the next two weeks. Yeah, I don't like the wobble ball he throws either but once he's not eagle clawing from all that rook adrenaline that should improve too. Just cause the friggin media tells us jimmy is all "NFL ready" already doesn't mean we have to buy their shit . .. jimmy is a rook and needs a ton of game time reps (like every other QB) before he evolves into an NFL QB. Of course he's flawed, and instead of fixating on the negatives and worrying about them I'm going to enjoy focusing on all the good shit he's doing :REDanceBanana001:

In all seriousness, is AE > Pike or Cantwell?

Clausen has a potato gun. His pocket awareness is a little overrated, too. You really don't want your QB to scramble when there's no pressure and the receivers haven't even finished their routes. I've seen him do that twice so far.

Don't shoot the messenger, but I'm having deja vue all over again. This doesn't feel like 2003 to me. It feels like 2001.
