His situation is no different than any other 36 year old, former #1 WR. They don't generate much interest in a reserve role. Teams would rather go with younger players who can contribute on special teams.

Considering how much they tried to force the ball to him, his numbers were not that good. At the very least, it suggests that he now needs a QB who can make him look better. That's not really something we have.

the comparison is one of simple fact. we said adios to a wr from that same class, who subsequently retired. if we wanted an old wr, well, we had 1 on the roster. maybe you should stick to getting your popcorn ready.

ESPN was mentioning Seattle especially if Branch and his 3 knee operations doesn't hold up

Of course he's a locker room distraction anywhere he goes and it would be foolish to bring him here. I didn't suggest that. But he still draws substantial coverage, and hypothetically TO across the field from Steve Smith would be a DC's nightmare. He is still a huge physical talent.

So then all 'old' wr's a created equal is what you're saying? TO is still a legitimate threat. He's lockerroom poison, but he still draws more coverage than any other reciever we have on the roster besides 89. Now get me some fries, football genius.

risk/reward. If you consider who we have outside of 89, that statement says so very little. And, while he might draw attention, I have no doubts that he isn't drawing doubles. I also doubt he's able to do that much with single coverage.
I mean, I get that part of this was you trying to shit on Moose, but as others have said one good TO game separated the stats of the two, and that's with Moose being out two games. What people are saying, of course, isn't just that we already had a guy like that and chose not to take him back another year, it's that we're not going to make a gamble to get the same guy but much more divisive, and a worse fit for the dirty work.

you are missing it. and i'm sure this will not help you to understand, since no one else has been able to penetrate your dense layer of stupidity...

whatever comparison about the two players' ability has been made by you. now that's out of the way, moose was not let go in order to begin a pursuit of owens, or any other wr of similar age. that also means no jimmy smith, no isaac bruce, no marvin harrison.

it doesn't take a genius to look at what the team has done so far this year and get that bringing in older vets is not part of the plan this season. it does however take a blithering idiot to ignore, once again, simple fact, opting instead for their own misguided opinion.

Just for shit and grins can you imagine the extra running room if you had two serious receivers like TO and SS?

That being said Fuck TO and the headaches he brings

Agree with all of this. Except I wasn't shitting on Moose. TO had the ability and physical attributes to be great. He is too much of a head case for us to ever know. Moose was an excellent reciever and had a lot of physical ability, he wasn't as gifted as TO.
I think TO still draws safeties to his side...while maybe not drawing doubles, he was certainly accounted for by the safties. I don't think he's completely done. He'll play somewhere and he'll still be a threat.

Wow...you really hate to be called out don't you. You turned this into a 'whiny bitch' session with your dumbass popcorn comment. You don't like my opinion, disregard it, but don't cry because someone disagrees with you.

If TO wasn't a headcase and was available for a bargain rate, I'd venture that they'd strongly consider him. And if they didn't, given our receiving corps or lack of one, they'd be foolish not to take a shot at him. They've gone young...we all get that....but a great player at a bargain with some upside where you need upsaide is a good deal regardless of age.
