I haven't been able to do anything in 2 weeks. Back is 60-70% back to normal after 3 visits in a week to chiropracotor. Last visit is tomorrow. I still have those sharp pains but those have lessoned a lot. I am trying to do some stretching of the muscles back there to loosen them and strengthen them so the hip doesn't bother me in future. This was a long time in coming as I fell on my right hip 10-12 years back on some icy steps. The doctor said don't do anything other than walking to and from work no heavy duty walking) for a month until things get right. I am at 2 weeks or so now.

Hit the Gym and work to strengthen your back muscles.
No more running, ever. (Use a low impact eliptical machine for cardio).
Consider taking some Yoga (great for flexibility).
and for the love of god, do NOT get an operation. That just fucks it up waaaay worse over the long haul.

That's what I have heard from several folks that have been down that road. My knees and ankles couldn't take running anymore after 5 years of football and other activities in my youth so fast paced walking (4.2-4.5mph) is my primary means of cardio now adays. I must be uncoordinated as hell as the elliptical actually hurts my lower back when I tried it when I first started working out. I have been doing some stretching specifically for lower back and I think I am getting positive results as my back feels a lot better, Still get twinges but nothing long term and not nearly as bad. I would like to look into some Yoga though

    re: strengthening back muscles

Don't know if this will help, but I've got arthritis in my lower back. I got STRETCHING exercises from a physical therapist and do them twice per day, religiously. My back is the strongest it has ever been. It's amazing what fifteen minutes of simple stretching exercises can do.

Quacks....although my only basis is my two sisters who are physical therapists. They say they do nothing to fix the problem, only give you temporary relief and you become dependent on them.
