And it must be right, lol. I wondered to myself why we'd have had three active that day, as I posted that but was too lazy to look.

Were in a good position here. No need to force Clausen into starting year 1. Moore proved he could do the job given a chance.

But drafting him that high means the future is his, just like Kevin Kolb.

Clausen has bust potential no question. Regardless, we needed him IMO. I'll just say this, the talent is there and he is "watch what he does all the time" type player when he is on the field. In the end, we had to take him on talent. I seriously believe he will make us fans very happy one day. Moore is the starter period, for at least the next season but its all on Clausen. Its his franchise to lead if he has it in him. We'll see. :peacemanmw:

The Panthers have a very easy offense to run, relative to other NFL offenses. And since he already knows the terminology, he could probably step in and do ok. I'm not sure he'd be an upgrade from Moore, but you have to remember that we don't need much from that position to be competitive.

The personality thing is what really worries me. I see a lot of potential for David Carr pt. 2, if things don't go well early on.

The rookies have an opportunity - plenty of guys have played young under Fox. Gamble and Manning played over whoever that shitass veteran we had at that point. All the first round picks up to DW started their opening day, so the opportunities were there. After that, Beason and Otah started their opening days, too.

The biggest argument against Fox was always DW. As we know now, DW didn't and had not earned it. The guy we had in 2007 wasn't the same as in 2008, even as he picked it up late in 07. It's really an argument against starting an unready rook.

We have enough at WR that we don't have to start an unready rookie. Hopefully one is ready enough to roleplay. Same at QB - if you get your name called, you go. Otherwise, if you're not ready, you shouldn't go.

QB is the biggest, most dangerous place for a guy that's not ready. If it's just a Moore playing 2010, Clausen playing in 2011 situation, I'm fine with that.

I don't see his personality turning to Carr. If he's a Cutler or Rivers distraction, I can see that. I can see if he became an ass, or felt like he was owed something. We had that with Collins, really.
I can't see him getting shell shocked in this little town behind a good line after what he went through in ND. I don't see a guy that cocky deciding he'd rather tank than play.

This is the part that disgusts me about Foxy. Everytime I root for the guy, he says something fucking stupid.

"There is no competition"...FUCK you, man. There is nothing wrong with being in command of the situation, and saying the best player will play. I mean...what the motherfuck, man.

Claussen is not a first rounder and Moore did not play like a shit-ass veteran. I don't see the pattern in Fox's past actions that equates to a rookie QB starting on this roster.

That said - this has been the craziest 3 months in Fox's tenure here, so I'd say if he was ever gonna say 'fuck it dude' and start a rookie wunderkind qb, it would be this year, with this qb.

I'm all for the Clausen pick, but we really shouldn't rush him into the starting lineup until he and the team are ready to do so. We have the luxury of him not having to start and we should roll with that at least for the first 3-4 games.
