the thing about trading aging players, is when to pull the trigger.

do you hold onto them too long? or do you try and get the best deal for them while their stock is marketable? is there an adequate replacement on the roster? how much of a learning curve are you willing to tolerate with a different qb?

the eagles spent a first round pick on kevin kolb a few years ago and picked up vick last year. they now have 3 qb's on their roster and are obviously entertaining offers from various teams. if they let mcnabb go, there will be alot of question marks regarding their success going forward.

some fans say mcnabb has been the primary reason that they have not been able to close the deal (super bowl victory). even with their overall success, the runner-up mentality is wearing thin. even the giants were able to finish, and they have been up and down all the while the eagles have remained in relative championship limbo, but consistent none the less. last season mcnabb stunk against dallas, three times. they see their window closing, they blame mcnabb for alot of their big game failures during this decade, despite all the good things he has done.

nobody wants to be the bills, or the vikings, even though its better than being the browns, or the lions. its maddening.

i dont know what is gonna happen.

Kolb was a 2nd round draft pick.

Good places to get a pulse on how Philly feels. Many more fans than you'd realize don't necessarily blame Mcnabb, but they do understand that Mcnabb has limitations, and he is not a perfect fit for Andy Reids offensive philosophy. His accuracy and leadership qualities leave a little to be desired, but he's still a top 10 qb and probably will be for 3-4 more years.

Mcnabb came out yesterday or today saying he'd like to go to MINN, and he'd be a perfect fit there. He'd be a perfect fit here too, but I think with Moore the price you'd have to pay wouldn't be worth not rolling the dice and potentially sucking next year, yet getting better draft picks.

Giving up a 2nd for McNabb wouldn't even be close to the stupidest thing they've done lately.

Carl Banks and Merrill Reese (play by play guy for the Eagles) were talking about McNabb going to the Vikings this morning on Sirius. If I was Minnesota, I'd jump on that in a heartbeat and tell Favre thanks for the memories.

I really don't have anything against Favre, but that would be pretty fucking funny.

Would Brett then lobby to play for Detroit or Chicago just get back at both the teams he feels have slighted him?

"The Vikings are awaiting Brett Favre's decision on a return, a commitment that could come as late as midsummer, which would likely be too long to wait for the Eagles".

LOL - as the Favre turns

He didn't just work with him, he was the OC, so some definite deep ties. He was the one in Andy Reid's ear to run the ball more, so Mcnabb would actually fit better there. Spagnuolo was the LB coach in philly too, and his current OC is mcnabbs former QB coach. Though Tom Heckert (Cleveland GM) was recently the GM (by name only) in philly, I think he made his decisions, and a terrible one, to go with Delhomme. It's very possible it'll be groundhog day again in Philly, where Mcnabb has to walk in to the Novacare facility with expressions of "he's stilll here?" again, but Andy Reid wants a lot for him. The new Eagles GM Howie Roseman and president Joe Banner are probably a lot more likely to want to deal Mcnabb for whatever the best offer is.

If Moore had not come on and played so well down the stretch I would be all about giving our second round pick for McNabb.
