If this is true I don't understand why he was on the air saying he hasn't heard from the team and his agent was all butt hurt.
Goes along with his stance last year about him just wanting to get out of town. If we made an above average offer and he still wanted out then there is nothing you can really do but move on.

huh, sound like they really went after him. 3 tries? in Peppers interview the other week he said something to the effect of "why would I want to stay with a team that im not sure wants me, or is even talking to me"

    yas...
We’ve heard multiple times that the Carolina Panthers made at least two strong attempts to lock up Julius Peppers for the long term. But now we know there were at least three attempts, with the final one coming sometime in the past few weeks.

According to several sources, the Panthers made a last-ditch offer to their defensive end sometime shortly before they announced they would let him walk into unrestricted free agency. The offer was for somewhere close to $14 million a year, the sources said.

But Peppers declined and the Panthers promptly turned around and said they would not franchise him and would let him become a free agent. In the NFL, most things are usually all about money. In this case, I think we have the exception.

The Panthers offered Peppers a boatload of money (several times) and he turned it down. For whatever reasons, it seems his real intention simply was to get out of Carolina.

maybe his agent, who we already know is a sabotaging jackass and who wanted Peppers out for the most part anyway, downplayed the offer.

What I assume they mean by "three offers" is the attempt to negotiate in 2007-08, the attempts after the franchise tag, and a shot at it this year.

Which, the third attempt makes me feel a lot better. I could see them having said "we tried in 2009 to get you, and you turned us down, so fuck off." But them trying in February, and deciding they didn't need him in March, I'm OK with. Very easy to be standoffish to offers in March and April, sign in June, pretend you want a deal and take $20 mil for one year.

I really believe they'd tag him again if they felt they could use the time to get him signed. I honestly believe Julius would've done the above (dick around, stall, get paid for the year) and screwed them again.

"The feeling we get is that nobody's going to be very active in free agency except for the Redskins," said the club official. "We're hearing they have significant interest in Julius Peppers and Darren Sproles." According to SI's Don Banks, Skins coach Mike Shanahan "covets" Sproles, and owner Dan Snyder will fire up his "private jet and Brink's truck" to reel in Peppers.

    from ESPN Insider:

On the opening day of free agency in 2009, the Washington Redskins made a mega-splash with the deal for Albert Haynesworth, the biggest name on the market one year ago. This season, with Julius Peppers, Karlos Dansby and Darren Sproles expected to be the biggest names on the move, which man will wind up under the guidance of Mike Shanahan at this time tomorrow?

According to SI's Peter King on Twitter, the 'Skins are expected to be the most active team in free agency, and they've been linked to each of those three men mentioned above (and others, too). Get ready for a big night.

On a side note, it's pretty widely known that Synder and JR are big fans of each other, what better way for Snyder to stick it to JR than sign his player.

I really don't think Jerry gives two shits what Danny Boy does. Danny is just a smear of dog shit on the bottom of Jerry's shoe. I think Jerry will sit back and laugh when Danny pays $30 mil a yr. for a loafing prima donna. :flush:

It wasn't that long ago Synder tried to put a Washington Redskin game feed in a Charlotte area radio station. Arn't there rules about teams radio territory and how far away another team can have a radio feed?

Danny Boy could buy and sell JR's ass ten times over.
