I don't get it personally. He didn't have what he needed there.

looks like it's Nolan to the Dolphins.

Did I miss how the Dolphins had an opening?

Also, is Tampa sitting on their hands? They need two coordinators, or at least one and a QB coach.

The Buffalo Bills have hired former Dallas Cowboys and Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey as their new coach, a team source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The team announced it would hold a news conference at its facility in Orchard Park, N.Y. at 2 p.m. ET.

The Bills are said to be impressed with how Gailey has brought teams to the playoffs with quarterbacks such as Mike Tomczak, Kordell Stewart and Jay Fiedler. In fact, Bill Cowher -- whom the Bills had been courting to replace the fired Dick Jauron -- highly recommended Gailey to the Bills.
Cowher planned to make Gailey his assistant head coach/offensive coordinator if he came back. Gailey has coached in four Super Bowls and has had his teams go to the playoffs in 11 of his 15 NFL seasons.
Gailey was coach of the Cowboys in 1998-99, following Barry Switzer, reaching the playoffs in both seasons but failing to win a playoff game. He coached Georgia Tech from 2002 through 2007 and led the Yellow Jackets to a bowl game in all six seasons at the helm.
He would be the fifth coach hired by the Bills in the last 10 years.
Gailey has also worked as an offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs, who hired him in 2008 and relieved him of his duties after three preseason games in 2009.
When one candidate after another backed out, the Bills kept turning back to Gailey at Cowher's recommendation.
The Bills had sought out or interviewed Cowher, Mike Shanahan, Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier and New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. The team also interviewed its former defensive coordinator, Perry Fewell, who took over as interim coach after Jauron was fired midway through the season.
Fewell took a job as the New York Giants' defensive coordinator.

There's a report that Marty really, really wanted the Buffalo job, and Buddy Nix wanted to hire him, but Ralph Wilson wouldn't go along with it because he wanted an offensive coach.

Also speculation that the Raiders have already been interviewing HC candidates for the past few weeks.

Wednesday, the Redskins announced something that seemed merely a formality for the past several weeks. They have officially announced the hiring of Kyle Shanahan as their offensive coordinator. They also announced the hiring of two other offensive coaches -- Matt LaFleur as quarterbacks coach and Jon Embree as tight ends coach.

It's true that Kyle is the son of new Redskins head coach and executive vice president Mike Shanahan, but this move doesn't necessarily scream nepotism. Kyle is an extremely qualified candidate for any coaching opening at this point in his career. He has been the offensive coordinator for the Houston Texans for the past two seasons where he helped lead one of the NFL's most potent offenses. In both of Shanahan's seasons as coordinator, the Texans established new franchise records in total offense. Under his tutelage, Matt Schaub led the NFL in passing yards and completions, while Andre Johnson has led the NFL in receiving yards for two consecutive seasons.

"It is a thrill to have Kyle onboard." Mike Shanahan said. "Not only because it represents a chance to work with my son, but because it brings to our staff the offensive mind that drove one of the most explosive and productive passing attacks in football the last two years."

Believe it or not, Kyle Shanahan will be working with his father for the first time. He entered the NFL as an offensive quality control coach in 2004 and served there for two years before heading to Houston as the wide receivers coach. He was wide receivers coach for a year, quarterbacks coach for a year and then was promoted to offensive coordinator.

There's plenty of speculation about Jason Campbell's abilities as a quarterback, but Shanahan helped morph Schaub from Michael Vick's backup into a Pro Bowler. LaFleur has been with Kyle Shanahan the past two seasons in Houston and aided him with quarterbacks this past season, so he also deserves a slight bit of credit in Schaub's huge success.

"The reports that we've interviewed prospective head coaches are totally untrue, totally false," Raiders senior executive John Herrera said.

Fassel has denied that he has heard from the team, and the agent for Marc Trestman has said that Trestman has not been contacted, either.

A league source has confirmed this information (since, frankly, it's not always prudent to accept at face value the self-serving stuff disseminated by any team), and we're also told that there has been no effort to interview Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride or Packers assistant head coach/inside linebackers coach Winston Moss. To interview either of these men, the Raiders would be required to submit a written request for permission to conduct the interview, and the request for permission contains a space requiring the team seeking permission to specify the job for which the candidate would be interviewed.

Meanwhile, we're told that no decision has been made regarding the question of whether coach Tom Cable will return for a second full season. The possible addition of Hue Jackson as offensive coordinator could bolster Cable's case for staying, since it would allow Cable to surrender the offensive coordinator and play-calling functions, and to focus on being the head coach.

I don't get why Cowher has such a stiff on Gailey.

"We are pleased to add Danny to our coaching staff," Lions coach Jim Schwartz. "He brings a wealth of both college and NFL coaching experience that undoubtedly will have a positive impact on our special teams play. I've known Danny for a long time, and I've always had tremendous respect for his special teams units."
