If norval gets fired, any chance Foxy has interest? He is from San Diego, IIRC.

I'm sure lots of coaches would be interested in the chargers job but I'm not sure Fox would be on their list.

Chargers need a reality check that LT isn't anywhere close to what he used to be. Lack of anything out of the running game killed them (as well as a kicker who missed 3 fg's). They need a RB in the draft or a FA.

The Jets defense is better than I thought. Sproles is usually pretty good.

Can't fire Turner for that - he makes those, they win.

Well one was a 57 yarder so 0-2 in reality. You can fire him for refusing to scrap the offensive game plan and throw on 1st down when the Jets continued to stuff LT on first down. You can also be fired for not kicking the ball away after their last score.

No way the Jets go for it on 4th down from their own 30 or so. They had 1 TO and the 2 min warning. An onside kick there is a bad percentage play and forces you to stop them on 4 plays rather than 3 if you don't recover the kick.

Wasn't really defending Turner, cause I don't care if he stays or goes, seeing how I am normally indifferent to whether the Chargers win or lose. Still, you'd think Kaeding would have made at least 2 of the 3 and 50/50 chance on the long one as good as he has been. I'd bet he's been in a bar drinking ever since the game was over Sunday.

Chargers announce extension for Norv Turner

As an apparent reward for Sunday's throwback to Martyball, Chargers coach Norv Turner has received a three-year contract extension.

The team announced the new deal on Monday night.

"I'm extremely proud of the job Norv has done with this team," team president Dean Spanos in a statement issued by the team. "In three seasons he's led the team to three division titles. I'm confident that if we strengthen our roster and continue to provide Norv the assets he needs, this team will have continued success."

Or maybe -- just maybe -- Norv and G.M. A.J. Smith have taken this team as far as they ever can or will, and maybe the time has come to find a coach and a front-office chief who can push this franchise over the top.

The Chargers have opted for the more conservative approach, and so Turner is now under contract through 2013.
