Won't we just get more of the same if we promote the assistant? Not saying it won't happen, but doesn't seem to make sense. I guess if it does happen hopefully he will have some pride and try to make us better.

I am glad he is gone. He was the weakest link in our coaching staff. No where to go but up really. Special teams probably cost us a game or two this past season.

This was the assistant's first season with Carolina so it's not like the guy was a crossman disciple.

Special teams do not get enough attention most of the time. If you go from a crappy unit on special teams to a very good one then you are probably going to pick up a couple of wins. One big return at the right time can win you a game. Not allowing a big return, not having punts and field goals blocked and easy field goals missed is huge. People tend to ignore special teams but it would be smart for us to put a little more of our resources into them. Top special teams players are usually not that expensive. Sure it takes away a little from what you can spend on offense and defense but I think it is worth it. For as much as we all cried about Karl Hankton, we have missed him.
