kinda funny. they fired the oc in preseason, and now the dc has been shown the door. morris will serve as dc and head coach, and will switch back to predominately tampa-2.

overwhelmingly desperate? too bad gruden signed a mnf extension. they might have tried a do-over on that too.

He's been relieved of playcalling, not fired. He'll still be around to help Raheem.

it seems slightly more than that. st pete times article is saying he has been relieved as dc. he will be a consultant for the remainder of the season. maybe it's verbage. but it sounds like more than just playcalling on game day.

doesn't sound like "fire" or "shown the door" either.

Either way, Raheem is fucking fired and a half. You can't change your staff like he has, have one win, and expect to keep your job. What a huge blunder by the Glazer family.

I dunno. First year. They were going to take a huge step back going from one of the oldest teams to the youngest.

I'm not sure the coaching is the problem, it's a rebuilding program. But if you are the Glazers', you started this. Let Morris see it through.

Owners have fired first year coaches before. Cam Cameron only had one year in Miami. It's not unprecedented. Everything point to this guy being way over his head.

call it whatever you want. the end result is the same. he's no longer doing the job he was doing yesterday, and the new defensive scheme he was hired to run is being thrown out midseason.

he, morris, looks lost. neither coordinator made it through the season, and they've tried 3 different qbs, the defense is awful, and they have 1 big fat win. not sure he makes it either, nor should he.

Gruden has his flaws, and I think vets don't buy into his rah-rah stuff. But he's a good coach. He built a good staff. He generally had good teams when not screwing with his QBs.
Clearly they made a big mistake with that entire staff, and Morris might be best to parlay name exposure into a midmajor college gig.if he can last the year. After the year, it's almost just better to limit the exposure to the young kids.

Bates used to be considered a top DC. He and Zimmer seem to make career limiting choices when joining teams.

i don't think bates had a great deal to work with there either. adams was a bust, the dline as a whole is terrible, ruud is their best lb, barber an old tampa-2 guy...i guess...the few players they still had on defense are tampa-2/kiffin players.

ultimately he got blamed for their performance, that's how it goes, but it's difficult to think it could've been any different given the circumstances.
