Yeah, QB is by far the hardest position to fill. Look around the league... most teams just hope to get by with guy that won't fuck up too much and just make the simple plays. What we're reduced to now it seems. We really haven't done a lot in the way of even trying to bring someone along. I guess it's Fox's mndset that even an over the hill vet like Jake wll help him keep his job longer.

I liked what little I saw of Hunter Cantwell this preseason but I wouldn't bet the house on him as an NFL QB.

Dude....don't kid yourself. That's what we've always had in a QB. Jake's job was to not fuck up too much, and let the running game and defense win games.

it is what it is...we have a 34yr old QB whose job is to not screw up,and he leads the league in turnovers.

I think "post elbow surgery Jake" is of serious concern, but you'd have to agree he had more fans than detractors after the gutsy inspired Super Bowl performance.

There was a time in the not too distant past where he won more for us than he lost.

Super Bowl performance was inspired, but he's never been a great passer. Pre-surgery he didn't throw much better than he does now.

That's not true at all. His performance lately has been really bad.

When has he ever been a consistently great passer?

He hasn't been this bad ever in his career.

Good Lord, Jake has never been great. He's had some years where he was fairly consistent, but he was always capable of coming out one Sunday and just scaring the living hell out of us. With Jake, you never know what your going to get, its always been that way. The Super Bowl year we simply had numerous other players have career years,,, and yes Jake had a great Super Bowl, of course his supporters choose to forget that 2 of NE's starting DB's were out of the game in that 2nd half.

My honest opinion, I think Jake's age, the surgery, and other teammates (oline, wr's) not playing so well,,, all contribute to his poor numbers so far this year. Its certainly not all Jake's fault, and I further believe that Jake can still be "ok" for us,,, but he can't carry the team,,, and what pisses me off is that the team has never tried to bring in a serious threat to him, and they should damn well know about his age and surgery too.
