How was Peppers, Kemo, Jenkins, and Rucker so unimpressive? Who sucked? Somebody sucked?

Bad Peppers was there for most of the time they were together, Rucker you could say was age the injury occured late in 06 (when he was having a good day against the steelers) so 07 was in the "still learning to trust the joint" stage, Kemo wasn't that good to begin in theory he's better working in jenkins 'nose' position where he's been the last two seasons, Jenkins still had it at times but conditioning was definitely a factor.

Or you could take the popular theories: no passion, too old, shitty player, and offsides.

I'd much prefer to have Jenkins and have traded Peppers.

I would just as soon they both be gone. They can both play when they want to but neither of them brought it consistently. If either of them played the way Steve Smith plays they would be the best in the league at their positions.

We had a very good run D the year that Buckner and Carstens were our starting DTs. We do not have to have superstars at DT but we do need some solid guys who can stay healthy and rotate to stay fresh. So far we have put 3 DTs on IR. If they were all healthy we would not be missing Jenkins so bad.

jenkins was remarkably consistent (until he injured his back) in NY last year, we just weren't willing to show him the cash.

    They could both play harder.

I find the smith thing interesting though, he seems immune from criticism mainly because his production is dependent on another player (QB), but Peppers and Jenkins don't get such excuses.

You're whole 'league of average gentlemen' theory is shot by the fact that there was so much demand for DTs when we traded jenkins (Stroud, Rogers) and the teams that traded them had a severe decline in run D and this offseason found more DTs. Sorry but I don't think a team gets better by dumping top 5 DL talent in the prime of their careers two seasons in a row.

Jenkins was always struggling to keep his weight down and was injured a lot when he was here. He sat out the better part of two years while he was here. Certainly he was better than anyone we have now but he was not a world beater.

It is hard to say how we would do if we have three or four solid mid level guys in a rotation at DT since we only have one guy, Lewis, who is on that level.

Considering other teams have tried it and failed I don't think it's that hard. There probably wouldn't be such demand for these types of players if they weren't necessary, is the richest defensive player ever not a defensive tackle?

Jenkins is the best defensive linemen this team has ever had.
