I watched Sunday's game and can honestly say that I have never -- not ever, in any sport -- heard a player booed by his fans more lustily than Panthers fans booed Jake. In stereo surround, it almost sounded like the fake booing added to WWE telecasts when they're trying to sell a bad guy. Naturally, I assumed that would be all for Jake. Either he would be benched, or the team would take him behind the stadium and shoot him like an injured horse in the 1940s. Nope. He's starting Week 2.

OK, get ready for a curveball. Take a deep breath. Ready?

I actually think this can work.

Actually a purty good article. But I don't believe for a minute Jake will get a win against Atlanta Sunday. He may play OK and score and even not turn the ball over much, if any. We'll see.

Delusional. I hope Jake comes back and proves me wrong and wins the next 2 games, but I'm not holding my breath.

As sick of Jake as I am, it would be in his nature to play awesome and even lead us to a last minute win.

It would also be in his nature to throw 4 picks and have a hissy fit, which is why I'm sick of him.

    50/50. Easy article to write.

seems to be written in terms of fan support or opinion and not whats really best for the team.

Yes, if he plays better than rock bottom than people will think it's better but that leaves the bar pretty low.

I like that part of it. I mean - like any of us know what's better for the team.

Low expectations have ALWAYS been for the best for this team. That part IS a good thing, and it does make winning sweeter, and I prefer it.

    And my expectations are low.

I agree to an extent. However legitimate league analysts are like "wtf" and talking about change if nothing improves. So, it's not like it's just dumb fans.

I guess I meant to say the article seems to be about success as measured by his fan opinion getting better, and this new low makes that easy to do....not him playing to his previous potential.
