jake is limited in his ability and his confidence is shot -- no doubt about that. but what's his culpability in the past two meltdowns? fox stays out of the play calls, no?

in regard to play calling, what can be done to address the pressure that jake is getting? shovel pass, slip screen, fullback trap?

if davidson has to play the hand he's dealt, what can he do differently -- other than putting his QB in position to make 11 turnovers in two games.

He could get off the dang sideline and up into the booth where he can see what's going on better, imhmfho.

Play ball control and let Jake throw dump off passes and smoke screens all day. Throw in a few trick plays etc. Basically go back to the Henning offense.

The screen was designed to stop those bullrush blitzes....we have one of the best collegiate recieving RBs in history..what's missing?

Besides, Jake had open recievers yesterday...he just didn't see them or he didn't hit them.

His receiver was open on at least 2 of the 3 int's yesterday (can't remember about the 3rd). So unless you want someone to throw the ball for him, you can't blame the playcalling.

what i'm saying is -- if you're jeff davidson and you know that jake is your QB, what can you do to minimize the damage and give your team the best shot at winning.

    i guess you're saying nothing?

    Marty ball.

Take the game out of Jake's hands. Don't throw anything beyond 10 yds. Force him to throw to everyone EXCEPT Steve Smith and I mean everone. (In a Panther uniform that is.) Teach him to look off the D and not zone in on his target so early. Namely Steve Smith. Yes Smith is a play maker but if you want him involved try some well designed WR screens or something just for him. Stop Jake from forcing the ball to him.

    That's a start.

Power rushing attack using DW, Stewart, and Hoover (blocking AND carrying). Beat the opposition silly with our OL (assuming they show up). Quick slants to Moose and the TEs. If the field position is favorable and the defense starts run blitzing or putting 8 in the box, playaction to Smitty down the sidelines to minimize chance of INTs.

Everyone will scream about Smitty not getting the ball enough, but throwing to a 5'9" receiver in traffic has apparently become a lost skill for Jake.

Fox could spend more time going over film and less time clubbing.
