We reported earlier that the Carolina Panthers had claimed defensive tackle Ra’Shon “Sonny’’ Harris and running back Tyrell Sutton off waivers Sunday.

But sometimes it’s just as interesting and enlightening to see who teams try to claim, but don’t end up getting. The Panthers put in three other claims Sunday.

They put in unsuccessful claims on defensive tackle Vance Walker, defensive end Derreck Robinson and defensive tackle Antonio Dixon.

    Pretty interesting

3 of the 4 guys we tried to claim seem better suited for 3-4 DE. That's the interesting part.

The more I read about this guy, the more excited I get about this pickup. I'm surprised the Steelers let him go.

    "quicker"

Dixon's size is probably the only thing keeping him in the NFL.

3-4 end isn't that much different from NT. You're still playing read-react, you're still looking to draw a doubleteam, you're probably expected to hold at the point of attack against two men.

Not that I expect a nose here to get a double. I'm really just looking for someone that's in the center's face. Get off the ball fast, give that guy fits. If a double comes off it, great.

Anyone rewatch the Pitt game to get an idea on him? He sacked Moore. He does well on stunts. He gets in passing lanes, but doesn't get in much penetration on those plays. He did get a good bullrush in on our last O series and got close enough that Cantwell hurt his hand on Harris' helmet.

Dunno. NO idea if he has a good first step or if he can play one-gap, but he looks decent sized, can move well for his size, and while inconsistent, seems to be the type guy who could hold a gap.

Don't do anything extreme B&B, we have Damione Lewis and thelt said Jenkins isn't that much better than him plus we get the benefit of a better pass rush.
