Sounds about right to me. This sounds right to me too; 'Worlds Greatest Underachiever'.

Dude couldn't take coaching either. Was nonchalant toward Jim Skipper during camp drills. And don't get me started on the fumbling.

Then he left for SF and you can't tell me that they weren't hoping for a lot more contribution than they got from him.

It's the wrong term. We never got the return we expected, but I don't remember anyone ever considering him an elite player. Underachiever is the proper term.

I do agree about Bush. Nobody expected him to be completely useless between the tackles, or to be relegated to splitting carries with Pierre Thomas. The niche that he's found, while it may be a useful one, is not what they drafted him for.

I would move Vinatieri to the top. Otherwise, it's kind of a crappy list. Stephen Alexander?? WTF?

My knock on Foster is more a knock on Fox. If we have given DW more carries sooner we might not have felt the need to draft a back in the first round of the draft when we already had DW.

All of the RBs that would have theoretically backed up DW without stewart are out of the league, and aren't nearly as talented as JStew, odds are we would be looking at severe overuse.

We could have taken Matt Forte with our second round pick we gave to the Eagles in the trade to get Otah if we had just drafted Otah where we picked Stewart. On top of that we would have kept our first rounder in this year's draft which would have allowed us to keep our first rounder in next year's draft......

I like Stewart but I still think had more pressing needs than backup running back.

Neat thing about hindsight is you can assume they would have taken Forte.

You said that all the potential backup to DW are out of the league, Forte was a potential backup to DW......

Before the trade we had the #43 pick in the draft, our second rounder. Here are some backs we could have drafted with that pick:

    Forte pick #44
    Ray Rice pick #55
    Kevin Smith #64
    Steve Slaton #89
    Tashard Choice #122
    Tim Hightower #149

IMHO, any of those guys would be more than an adequate back up for DW.

Hightower sucks and everyone would be bitching about us reaching for anyone on the list after Rice, they would work, but you can't be sure the team didn't like someone else better at that pick is what I was getting at.
