    Looks like that leak was thanks to a bad spot in the roof that we knew needed replacing soon after we bought the house. Anyway, Imma get probably five estimates. Anyone know any roofers that don't suck? I know of one, but it doesn't hurt to have a few more.

    Go to some bulding suppy stores. Ask them. Not Lowes or the Depot. The other guys. Be sure to check insurance & workers comp. BBB is also a good source. Make sure that it is a removal. Not an overlay. I would not pay anything up front. If they say they need it for materials. Ask them where they are getting and buy it direct though them. Again check insurance and make sure. It just takes a phone call

    Stop screwing with asphalt shingles and go with a metal roof, I did. The paint on a metal is good for thirty years.

    Otherwise check out a roofers work by talking to people who they have done work for. It's hard to find a Good roofer who is dependable.

    About how much more cost, percentage-wise, was the metal roof over the asphalt, if any?

    I didn't check, I wanted metal. I'm positive it's more, you only have to do metal one time unless you live in tornado alley.
