I was not aware John Kasay was available for this type thing.

Kirwan has too much time on his hands.

I saw this yesterday. Honestly, it doesn't sound like a bad idea to me.

Don't you think fans would love to see Marvin Harrison catching passes from Trent Green? Or Donnie Edwards tackling Shaun Alexander?

A venue for players who are out of favor with the league to prove themselves and get a second chance would be a good thing. Say Marvin Harrison goes there and lights it up, he would get another shot in the NFL by proving he is not washed up.

I think it would get boring watching the same two teams play each other over and over again. I would rather see it happen in the spring so it is over in time for players to go to training camp. Have it start right after the draft and be finished by the time training camp starts. It would be a way for undrafted rookies to showcase themselves as well as vets who are out of work.

This sounds great but I feel like it's the NFL's attempt to take away some of the hype of the upcoming UFL season.

I wouldn't be supprised if the NFL propaganda ministry had Kirwan write this piece.

I like his suggested team of players too old to play or buried in legal trouble as ambassadors of the game. I mean how often do we see soccer bring up an over the hill star from another country to ignite the hidden American passion for soccer, and how often does it work?

Sounds too much like a pro bowl, or better yet a senior bowl. Just another game that would be meaningless to watch.

I can understand the NFL wanting to increase its market. I'd think the easier route would be to integrate the Canadian leagues, or at least develop a plan to standardize the rules and then have some playoff/championship style games between the US and Canadian teams.

Those type games could be played in world arenas and be marketed as an international competition.
