Could the plan be use this $$ to sign draft picks and stand pat with the rest of lineup ?

Maybe Fox & Meeks have an understanding with Peppers that defensive plays will get better.

As far as back ups there is the draft and re-do a contract or 2

We don't currently have a first round pick and the draft picks don't have to be signed for six months. Why is everyone worried about cap space for draft picks that haven't been picked yet and that won't be signed until summer?

Without a 1st (assuming we don't make a move to get one) we won't need too much to get the other signed would we?

Taylor was cut because the Redskins wanted to force him into workouts in the offseason. Because of that, I don't expect Taylor to sign with anyone soon.

Correct. It's not a reason to not have a first but we wouldn't need that much to cover it. The 2nd will have a modest bonus and most likely a bit more than the minimum by year 3 or 4, but the rest will get enough bonus to get them in a liveable situation before camp and the minimum. It's still plenty of money for a guy that's 23-24 in a new town but doesn't cost that much.

Even if it did, it's an August worry, not a March one. If you're worried about locking down a free agent or re-signing one of our special teamers, cap space is required, but rookie pay scale is the last of our concerns right now.
