I would buy that excuse if the Eagles' offer was remotely fair, but it was basically an insult to a player of Dawkins' ability and history.

could've been the Joe Banner spin factor and there are plenty of people in Philly right there with you, but the contract that they offered was still quite lucrative for a 36 year old safety.

Dawkins is one of those ageless freaks who still plays at an all-pro level. You have to pay him what he's worth.

I know he is injury-prone, but I was kind of hoping we would make a play at Springs.

Also, Damon Huard signed with the 49ers. I was in denial for a while, but it looks like Delhomme will be the uncontested starter again next year.

It's unlikely that we bring in any corner until we either trade or release Lucas.

    Broncos signed Chris Simms, btw.

can't think of many warriors that have been more deserving. The Eagles made a football decision and that's great, but they shouldn't get the right to pretend they just made a mistake.

    Agreed.

I might be way off, but I've thought he'd be a very decent fit in our offense.

Obviously. The rumor was that one of these things was going to happen. If either did happen, we would need a replacement.

O'sullivan to Bengals. Robert Royal to Browns.

I can live with Jake as our starter again but a better backup would be really nice just in case his playoff sucks lingers....

I thought the same, but it's obviously hard to know for sure until they're actually in it. Still, it seems like a play-action limited read system would suit his abilities.
