Who has the best picks to give up? Could we get our first rounder back from the Eagles?

I doubt it's the giants looking for another end, so
    Cowboys: No 1st
    Eagles: 1/21, 1/28.
    Redskins: 1/13.

CHARLOTTE Moments after getting Jordan Gross signature on a new deal, the Carolina Panthers made their next big move.

Agent Carl Carey confirmed to The Herald that he had just gotten off the phone with the Panthers, who have placed the franchise tag on defensive end Julius Peppers.

We were expecting the tag, Carey said. And we will continue to seek a resolution thats in line with Julius professional goals.

Tagging Peppers means offering a one-year, $16.683 million contract, and hes already said hed ask for a trade immediately.

The bar for such deals was set last year when Kansas City shipped franchised defensive end Jared Allen to Minnesota for a first-rounder and two thirds.

Now the Panthers have to sit and wait for an appropriate trade, while absorbing a hit on their salary cap which will prevent much activity on the free agent market until Peppers is moved. It will also necessitate some degree of restructuring and cuts for current players.

Peppers couldnt be dealt until Feb. 27, the day free agency begins.

Heh. With that junk about 4 teams the other day, Pep pretty much indicated he wanted to play hardball. Well, he got what he asked for, lol.

Too bad Ditka's not coaching and really wanted Pep. Remember the picks he gave up to the Redskins to get Ricky Williams?

If we could get our original first round pick back and maybe a third rounder for Peppers I could live with that, especially if it happens quickly. Marty needs to call the Eagles.

Having Snyder and Jones pitted against each other is like two stupid dogs and one bone.
