Mark had told me at one time that he had one for me.

But-I'm just looking for a zoom lens. Something to get me across the road to photograph my neighbor.

I kid. But that's what I'm looking for.

uh, you see... what it was was..... ummm, I kinda sorta already sold it :-(

    I'm sorry.

But if you're looking for reach, it probably wasnt going to help you that much, it was only 105mm on the long end.

I don't have ANY experience with this lens, but the Canon 55-250mm gets pretty good reviews. I do have experience with the 70-300 and LOVE it (note, NOT the 75-300, which is junk).

As far as used there's always eBay and CraigsList, but from what I've seen used prices aren't typically that much better than new. That being said, in this economy, people might be looking to unload.

the III lens, right? I shied away from this when I almost bought a Canon. It looked like a good, cheap way to get long (twss!) but they had one instore and it felt like crap and didn't look great. I almost bought the Sony long lens but am really enjoying the Sigma.

yeah, I was a sucker and bought it, but returned it after only a few days. it was softer than even the kit lens.

I didn't have a great feel for it either.
I didn't like that it wasn't IS, but then using it, it felt crappy.

I don't know about buying from Adorama or buying refurb lenses, but for this focal range and IS, it seems like a good deal. That range is essentially all you'd ever need, and goes from almost wide-angle to around supertelephoto. I also don't know how good the lens itself is, but I'm sure one of these Canon guys does.
