I heard Chris Mortensen throw this out. Put the franchise tag on Peppers and trade him to Cleveland for Derek Anderson. I don't think the Browns would do that based on the fact they would have Peppers for just one year. Anderson might look good in a Panther uniform though.

Cleveland wouldn't make that trade without a long term deal.
The Panthers could get a mid round #1 pick for Peppers. No one would give a #1 for Anderson when he was playing well, and anyone would be foolish to do so now. So why would Carolina give up such an asset for a QB that won't play next year?

And we would be on the hook for 5 million dollar roster bonus for Anderson!

No way, I would rather let Pep go for nothing. Anderson will probably be cut anyway and be available without the high price tag.

If we get a QB in a trade for Peppers the QB needs to be a small part of the deal. We need a high draft pick in the deal. An example would be the Rams trading us their first round pick and throwing in Bulger.

I really don't think they will, unfortunately. For that matter, everyone keeps forgetting the team has to create millions in cap space before they can even put the franchise tag on Peppers to trade him.

Exactly. I don't see that happening, either. I just hope Peppers is agreeable to work out a deal so we can trade him for something.
