    Obviously, but to be fair, I don't think Hardin captions the pictures.

    Never heard of the guy. The column's not awful, but it's not good either. There's nothing insightful there and it's not that well-written. Kind of sad that stating the obvious in a legible manner is what passes for sports journalism these days.

    In his youth, Ed Hardin covered the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. When the Panthers started up, the Greensboro News and Record assigned him to report on them.

    His columns have been negative from the start, and have never set well with me.

    His claim to fame is that he made a big deal about predicting our 1 - 15 season. Letters to the editor were roundly critical of that, and after we beat Minnesota on opening day that year the "neener, neener" chorus was deafening.

    As you can imagine, after we lost the next 15 games, his column was self-congratulatory.
