No offense, but I'll take Buckner's word for it.

I think Peppers underachieves for his abnormal physical prowess. If he overachieved like SS does for his size, Peppers would be an absolute beast. I think he plays hard most times, with decent effort and he wants to win and all that, but I think most folks who have seen him play over the years (including college) thinks that overall, given his size/speed/ability, that he has purty much underachieved his entire career.

The funny thing about it, is that an underachieving Peppers is still better than 95% of the rest of the NFL.

I would imagine that he wants to be and OLB in a 3/4. I would love to have him on our team at that position too.

#1) That's true. It's also true that over the past 3 years, Jared Allen and Aaron Kampman both have more sacks than Peppers, and Mario Williams has just as many as Pep. All are currently 4-3 ends, and 2 of the three make less money (Kirwan said Hurney offered Pep the Jared Allen deal and he turned it down).

#2) Totally agree. And I might lament our lack of DL talent next year, but that's with full acknowledgment of what letting Peppers go will do.

#3) With the money they gave Freeney, I bet they are. I sure as hell would be.

    #4) Agreed.

#5) Why can't both be true? Yeah, he's been misused, and yeah, he doesn't have the motor or leadership skills you'd like in a $17M a year DE.

    WOW. :saywhat:

I don't see Pep being THAT bad, but that definitely raises some eyebrows.

Buck said Jared Allen would have 30 sacks a season if he had the same physical talents of Peppers.
