I hope no team we play next year/from now on gets Peppers. We get our ass kicked by players we have let go without bad mouthing them like that. It's one thing to say the Unit has a problem...
but I don't care if he goes. The problem is we need a rookie QB because we all know that rookie QB's always have a game they can put on their resume when they play the Panthers. It's time we turn that shit around ;)

he was definitely a good leader there. He developed the film habits and attitude that bred success in the unit. He was also the one who would call stunts and things like that on third downs and obvious passing downs where it didn't interfere with scheme or gap coverage.

#1) No every down defensive end in the NFL had more sacks than Julius Peppers in 2008. He had a sack in 10 of the team's 16 regular season games. No defensive end has more sacks in Panthers history. Just because some fans think he should be getting 20+ isn't his fault.

#2) Julius Peppers is the only defensive lineman left on the Panthers' roster who isn't below average. Charles Johnson is probably the only one who has a realistic chance of improving to the point that he's at least league average. The people wishing Peppers gone should be banned if they post any bitching next season about the defensive line.

#3) Dwight Freeney had 5.5 sacks in 2006 and 3.5 in an injury-shortened 2007. Somehow I doubt that Colts fans were criticizing him this much.

#4) Athletes who take plays off aren't seen regularly racing to the ball on completions or runs downfield. Peppers' effort has absolutely never been a problem, not even in 2007. The problem is that many fans are too ignorant to distinguish between effort and technique.

#5) People have been bitching on TBR for years that Peppers was being misused. It's absurd to now turn around and pretend that Peppers is full of shit for saying basically the same thing. And fyi, those of us who have been to training camp know that Peppers was not treated with kid gloves. When he did something wrong, he got cursed and yelled at by Sunseri just like everyone else, he just didn't screw up as often as other linemen.

No disagreement. I've always liked Buckner, and thought he was solid when he played beside Rucker, Jenkins and Peppers. Now he is sounding like Jenkins, who's motivation-by-mouth techniques hurt the team more than helping the team. Peppers plays with no heart? A girlie-man? Watching how he runs down RB's on the opposite side of the field shows he has heart. Ask opposing QB's on the end of one of his sacks if he hits like a girlie man.

It's somewhat funny that the stuff Buckner said about Peppers is a lot like what some people were saying about Buckner at the end of his career. Then again, twelve years in the NFL as a D-Lineman is pretty good, so Buckner's decline may have been more age-related than laziness.

Nobody was saying anything bad about Buckner at the end of his career. He didn't have a big decline. He never said anyting bad when he was playing, he was their leader.

He's on sports radio now, not the team so I see no problem with him running his mouth.

How does making the team affect the truth of what he's saying?
