expand on that if you get time. That they got Capers, or that they moved to the 3-4? They don't have much talent for the 3-4, but Cullen Jenkins and Pickett make OK fits. Maybe Barnett and Hawk will flow to the ball better that way, but I don't know. I don't think so.

I can see where people would just assume he's good for that since he's had success as a coordinator. But I could see some doubt given that he moved down to secondary coach and the Pats' secondary wasn't great.

That they're almost certainly moving to the 3-4. Agreed about Jenkins and Pickett being okay fits, but they're still missing a monster NT. If KGB was still there (and in his prime) they'd have a decent OLB, but they don't. Yeah, they've got Hawk and Barnett inside, but they need a butt load more pieces to make that defense work. They're MUCH closer to being a highly respected 4-3 than to go the other way. And that offense still needs some help from the other side of the ball. Transitioning the defense is going to put a lot more stress on Rodgers and the offense, IMO. I just don't think it's ready for that kind of burden.

Poppinga was a DE in college, so that's a start.

    Capers has a 4-3 background as well. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that they'll change.

In that case it does seem like an odd choice.

Well, Capers' preference is 3-4, I imagine. Him running an even front with other teams has been a function of that coach's preference.

I imagine he wanted or expected Nolan and didn't get him, which would also suggest why Tim Lewis was on his list.

I meant for the Packers to go 3-4. It's not a good fit for their personnel.
