I just installed Windows 7 Beta and all I have to say is wow. This is definitely a step up from XP and twice as better than Vista.

Anyone else have the beta installed?

so what's the basic pemise behind windows 7? from the name, it sounds like they're trying to streamline and strip away the superfluous. i never picked up vista cuz xp works fine for me and vista gave me the sense of extreme bloat.

Vista actually runs just fine if you upgrade to the full version off the shelf and not the one that comes with the computer... there's features I like better then XP, but all I use my XP for is paying bills online and posting on TBR... PC's are great for internet

If I could find drivers for everything (not MS fault generally vendors are the problem) I'd switch full time to this. I'm using it now on this PC. I will say I've noticed most Vista drivers will work with it though.

few weird thingd going on. yesterday I had a ton of problem happen after setting up media center. Windows Update stopped working and would error out. started having a ton of explorer stopped working errors. I've also noticed that the beta version of Kaspersky that I downloaded also is updating, but doesn't know that it updated. I'm not exactly sure as to if its the AV or the OS is to blame.

Get rid of Kaspersky. I downloaded it because it was in beta and you could use it with Win7. It's a piece of shit. Even after I turned off all the settings except the AV, it was still acting up.

I'm due for a new computer, but I'm going to wait until W7 releases. I don't feel like dealing with it these days.
