    Or at least had him call a few running plays to try and get things settled down. Of course, the way things were going he just may have handed the ball to Cardinal players.

    in my opinion, in the NFL you do not bench a QB for a series or two to 'cool off'. if you do it, you at least commit to the #2 guy for the remainder of the game.

    That said, i thought that in the late third/early fourth quarter I would have been in favor of bringing in McCown. It couldn't have gotten much worse and sometimes you inject a little life into the team. However, that would have also brought the question of Fox's committment to Jake into play even more than it is now.

    Yeah, you mentioned pulling the five starters in basketball but it's not equivalent. In most games Michael Jordan comes out at some point. In most football games, the starting QB plays every snap. In college you see juggling etc but it's so rare in the pros that it just doesn't happen.

    You go down with your guy which is exactly what happened to us. If we pulled Jake, you can bet your ass he wasn't coming back in that game. Once we pulled Peete against Jax, Delhomme was going to finish that game regardless. He may not start the next week, but he'll finish the game.

    When McNabb got benched this year, Kolb finished the game. McNabb didn't play again until he started the next week.

    I think the problem was they abandoned their defensive play calling and the ability to sustain a drive.

    Good point. However, if my memory serves me adequately (it rarely serves me well), they seemed to have more invested in Jake at that time than they do in the guys behind Jake right now. It seemed then they were moving in a direction towards starting Jake, it was just a question of when...if I remember correctly.
