I cut out the grout. Sorta. They said it would just pop off.:Reagan-hittin-head-

Will I hate myself if I go wild and start prying it off with a crowbar? Will there be a way to re-tile it afterward without having to put new sheetrock on the wall?
I tried a chisel/hammer. A small crowbar. A large crowbar. A grout remover. A beer opener thingy that some guy said would work.

I want to do it myself, but I want someone to tell me the best way. :nosmile2:

    TIA

.....2 choices. 1....if the substrate is "sheetrock", then yank the whole damn thing down. Clean up the mess, install 3x5 hardibacker "cement board", and put up new tile. 2.....see #1.

Trust me on this one!!! you'll save time and money by ripping out the old and bring in the new!! And you'll get a better finished job.

    Good luck.

Ok so get this..... The rest of the wall is fine, ie...sheetrock that's good to go. Only over the stove where they had this ridiculous harvest scene that already has tile on it (ie..the area in question). So won't that be raised in that area where I have to use the cement board? I surely don't want to put up cement board over the whole thing. :speechless:

Tile backing board comes in the same thicknesses as drywall.

I thought the harvest scene was stunning.

Yeah it stuns me every morning around 6 am. I think the only thing I might have loved more would have been roosters and pigs.

Although it's the same thickness as sheetrock, that will require me to cut out the old sheetrock and put in backer board, right? I have a jigsaw, will that work?
What if there is electricity back there? :crybaby:

A utility knife, a hand held dry wall saw and a small pry bar for removing the nails should do.

Or just rejoice in the harvest.

You'll be happy to know I climbed way up in that tree a while ago and busted my ass. Hard. Fro's gonna kill me. I had 3 tiles to get off the wall and pulled to get them all down and the rest of the wall came down with it, along with an outlet. It's Bondgirl's fault.
I need a drywall person :crybaby: And maybe an electrician.

Chipshot- I was careful to keep the integrity of the harvest tiles. I'll save them for you.
