It was not a double move or a deep ball. Smith caught the ball and then blew by Sehorn, who had taken a bad angle.

the idea of the play is it's a pump fake on the move and then going further. This wasn't a dumpoff.

No, it wasn't a dump off, but nor did it involve a pump fake, double move, or whatever else you're "misremembering." It was a quick strike that happened in a blur with Steve catching a quick pass and blazing by the Rams defenders. It was a good throw, I'm just making the point that it doesn't go for 6 unless it's thrown to #89.

There really wasn't anything short about that pass. It was the playcall, the throw, and the run. It's not one thing.

Good fucking grief, do you really want to quibble about whether a catch ten yards downfield was "short" or "medium"? Look, you clearly don't remember the play at all if you're describing it as a "deep ball" that featured "pump fakes" and "double moves." Just drop it.

i think jake threw 4 passes that should have been picks . . . he was actually very lucky tonight along with several well thrown balls (considering the conditions)
Jake was not why the panthers lost tonight . . . unless it was jake allowing a backup RB 15 yards per carry

I've never once read it described as a short pass. Even you had reservations when you edited out that it was a slant.

As I remember that pass it was somewhere around 15 yards downfield. Give or take.

Yeah, I was wrong to say "short," just as you were wrong to say "deep." Steve had cleared the corner, but was still in front of the safeties.

No, he wasn't the reason. Not getting the ball to your best player in the 2nd half and OT is a damn puzzler tho. I have to give Smitty props though.. when he holds somebody he FUCKING holds somebody.
