never understood rumors like that. The only NFL head coaches to go back to college are either college coaches who have had remarkable failure, or past success and a lot of recent failure. Gruden has tenure to endure some crappy seasons as a pro coach and will not by any means turn that down to go coach in college.

Whoever ends up the coach at Tenn. Hamilton will have to get it right first out. Tenn. fans will not tolerate what Alabama, Georgia and Florida had to go thru for years trying to get it right. When the coach comes in he better be able to get back to the top level in no later than the 2nd year.

Myself, I would like to see Tenn. hire maybe in the following order: Gruden, Leach, Petterson (I'm sure Petterson would be glad to get away from that blue field), Muschamp, Kiffin and Brewster.

UT fans wouldn't tolerate being #1 in the nation or having won a NC two years ago? What are you talking about "years" they had to go through? Florida has been to a bowl every year since 1991. Georgia has been great under Mark Richt so we can cancel them out. Alabama since 2000 has been to 6 bowl games and are currently sitting first in the nation. You have no clue whatsoever do you 84niner?

What I'm talking about is the coaches that Florida, Georgia and Alabama had to go thru to get the "right" coach.

Examples" Florida...Zook and Georgia....Donnah and Alabama took forever going thru a few coaches since the Bear was Bill Curry, Pat Dye, Dennis Franchione, Charley Pell, Mike Price and Mike Shula.

I was thinking when both coaches played at Alabama.

Charlie Pell Played at Ala and was an Asst at Ala. but coached at Clemson.

Pat Dye also played at Ala. and was an asst. at Ala., but coached at Auburn.

    New Coach

I don't know if Hamilton will take the chance and hire someone with no previous head coaching experience ie. Muschamp. No doubt he is a great coach, but Hamilton will be the next to go if he screws this one up. I like the idea of Gruden...but my choice for the job would be Jim Grobe from Wake. Grobe in Knoxville with all the resources, money and facilities could build a strong disciplined program for years to come. To do what he has at Wake really is incredible. Previous Coaches such as Bill Dooley and Jim Caldwell could not build that consistency that Grobe has.

I'll give you Zook because he was a failure for them even though he did take them to two bowl games. Donnan not so much, he was 40-19 at Georgia and won four straight bowl games.

Pat Dye and Charley Pell never coached at Alabama you moron(ironic that word comes up with everyone of your post).
