Wasn't Henning doing this with Williams and Williams with Memphis before it was done with McFadden?

I'd say it comes more from Memphis than Arkansas.

Well the Williams thing against Atlanta was actually a variation of the single-wing offense that goes back to the beginnings of organized football. The Wild Hog was a spread variant developed by Houston Nutt. All of it is based on something someone else did before, but I can't think of any OC who is more willing to try those gimmicks at the NFL level than Henning.

Other than the Super Bowl year and the 96 playoff game vs Dallas, DeAngelo playing QB against the Falcons is my favorite Panther's game ever. It whipped fucking ass. We should do it again this week if we're getting nowhere with the passing game. It screams, "Fuck You Atlanta! We are going to run it right up your ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Agreed. It was when I fell in love with Dan Henning, and it's what makes me think he was a scapegoat, which made me lose respect for the front office.

Henning fucked belichek right in his ass.

Dan Henning is the best coach we've ever had. You're right, Henning raped Belichick.

Henning lost the players toward the end though. I was on the fence, mainly wanted Maser gone.

Sparano directly attributes it to their QB coach, David Lee from Arkansas, while reading the Houston paper today. It's a college football design, definitely. When we did it, it was unofficially stated from WF, though I don't know whether that was verified.

It's a fad, though. The part I dislike most about it is having your QB in space. When we were most effective we pulled the QB off the field. Gary Crowton brought some college to the pros, but most of it faded pretty fast.

Was interesting seeing us run it once, an interesting wrinkle would be putting both Williams and Stewart in and running spread principles, or running shotgun option runs, to make it more versatile, but I'd in no way want to see us throw the ball with it, unless it was a very basic read or throw away. I'd also prefer us not risk Delhomme as a target.
