Why don't we turn the other fumble into a td while we are at it?

the way we've played football since fox has been here has been play close games. it sucks sometimes but to act like that's not a different game had that play happened is kinda crazy.

but... we didn't, and we lost. we need a new coach, oc, dc, qb. pretty much everything except jonathon stewart and jon beason.

    that and we need passion.

I'm not that totally discouraged by the loss. A 10 point loss on the road to agruably the top defensive line in the league, where we didn't play well on either side of the ball and committed 12 penalties.

The things we were beat on are correctable.

he crossed Kalil's face, and Kalil didn't seem to be blocking anyone. Vincent let Leber go later in the game, IIRC

unrelated on Jake's fumble, he should've seen Moose being open, but Moose was also running a short route. We should've abused them deep more, so I have no concerns about him trying to make something deep happen on that side, which was the design. He didn't see it, which is unfortunate, but from his view no one was coming.

so, is that ultimately jake's responsibility to know that blitz is coming?

goings was taking all the blame after the game.

The vikings have a tough front and we struggled with it. No big surprise there. If not for the defensive touchdown it would have been a 3 point game. It is not like we got killed. They did out muscle us which is a bit of a concern but they are a tough team.

Time to forget about this game and get ready for Atlanta. We have another tough running back to deal with. Turner is doing better than I expected given the lack of talent around him. Ryan can beat you deep too. We need to re-establish our running game next week so we can control the clock. Stewart and DW need to be a big part of the game every week.

I didn't record it but I think it looked like Jake not seeing it. It was kind of a late blitz and I remember thinking where the fuck did Goings go? On the replay they showed he kind of faked a block a the line then turned around as an outlet. It would have been nice if Smith was open deep that Goings stayed in and picked up the blitz. It would have been nice if Jake saw it out of the corner of his eye but he was probably getting wood if he saw Smitty coming open deep. It did look like he was just about to cock it and fire about the time he got hit.

Goings was responsible for the blitz pickup, I'm sure. You can see him looking at the LBs and then going out for a pass.

You'd also like your QB to feel that pressure. And of course not to fumble.

From memory, it seemed like a delayed blitz, one that didn't show itself early. Sometimes you give them credit.

team game, no one player does it all. Jake should've seen it, it's not especially often a righty QB does all his looking left, but I can't blame him for wanting to go to Smith. A mistake I guess, but unlike most of the second half, it was a mistake going all out wanting the best instead of fearing the worst.

Goings' point was valid, he could've looked for the blitzer outside if he was the pickup guy, but would he have gotten there in time? I don't know.

Like I said in my pregame, Frazier makes his blitz calls count.

Says Allen: Delhomme “is really passionate about what he does and you can use that against him sometimes.”
