Stewart played well today, so did the OL. Kalil kicked ass on the first TD run Stewart had.

The obscene amount of penalties on the TEs and the OL nearly killed us, but yeah. Otah had some run pancakes too. Just stop tackling guys who are falling over you anyway.

The usage was the weird part. All DW early, all Stewart late. Stewart was a better fit this week. Leg drive on the first TD was ridiculous.

On one short run, Stewart just ran Urlacher backward many steps before being brought down (falling forward on Urlacher) by other players.

Wonder if they were thinking fresh strong legs in the second half on a hot day.

That is kind of what I was thinking. Stewart seems to be a more physical back.

Just got back from the game and scanning comments....my perception from the stadium was it was simply a matter of going with the "hot hand". DW is the starter and imho he will be the starter again next week in Min (deservedly so). Stewart got some carries in the 2nd half and obviously made some noise and in turn helped inspire the team so Fox simply road the hot horse. Trust me, in the course of the season there will be times that Stewart is not as effective as we would hope and DW is rolling and getting most of the carries. It's the beauty of having two quality backs. I am as excited as anyone about Stewart's ability, but my guess is that DW has 100+ yards against the Vikes next week.

I think you nailed it. Fox has said that he'll ride the hot hand, and Stewart was clearly better suited for the Bears' defense. Some people are going to assume that it means that Stewart gets the starting job, but I doubt it. It'll probably be a pretty even split over the course of the season.

    Edit:
D'oh. Trashman already said what I was thinking.

its just nice to have a couple guys with talent to use
who cares really about who the starter is as long as they use them properly
