King does bring a lot. He's got size in the shorter passing game, he does get through routes fast even though he doesn't have straight line speed, and he's reliable catching the ball. Two things I wanted to see out of him to improve if he were to start were blocking and following through after the catch, and he has improved his blocking. His bull-ahead for a few first downs in Indy were promising too.

King rated in the top 5 in all agility drills for tight ends at the combine, so he has good short area quickness, just not speed over distance. He got a big kick out of me talking to him about that in training camp last year.

yeah, he shows that a little bit, but I never saw the athleticism I was expecting after reading that. He seems to have gained bulk over time since combine, which is great, he's that 260 lb blocker I've been screaming for a while to get.

He's a player. He's not the traditional TE. He's kinda more like a move TE.

Thomas Davis is a weakside linebacker.

well, same as before. I think he's a player that, if he can make an impact, shouldn't be limited to a few alignments or to a few situations. He was on the field plenty last week, so I don't really have too many worries about that. Just like any player, I expect if he's up to the job that Fox will use him to benefit the team.

So he might be a "move" guy for a while. I expect if he keeps lighting people up he'll start, and I don't believe Fox stated that as a limiting factor, just as Fox saying "he s a Derrick Brooks type player" didn't keep him from playing 32 games at strongside linebacker (or Brooks, ironically, from playing SLB himself).
