When your coach has to convince you to go back on the field-that is bad. I think Collins is a better QB for them anyway.

Irony that Collins is his backup.

I wonder what is wrong with him? He has all the tools to be a good running QB. I never though he should have been drafted as high as he was but still he has the potential to be good if they put him in the right offense built to take advantage of what he does well.

I didn't like Collins that much when he played for Carolina-personal problems and all-but now he seems to have his shit together and still can run an offense fairly decent.

From what I gather, Norm didn't use his strengths. Now the new guys seems more of the same. For Young to be effective, he has to move more. He is not a pocket quarterback.

Today's editorial.

Backup stands up for Vince Young

Commentary by JOE BIDDLE

Some Titans fans have been bellyaching for Kerry Collins.
They're probably the same fans that always wanted Neil O'Donnell whenever Steve McNair would falter.
So now the Collins fans get their wish. Now that they have him for perhaps the next 2-4 weeks, what do they have?
Backup quarterbacks aren't starters for a reason. That said, given the same protection from headhunters, Collins is more proficient in the passing game than Vince Young.
The 14th-year NFL veteran has always been a pro-style pocket passer. Young is a hybrid, and his legs often outperform his arm.
"I've played a lot in this league and I certainly lean on the experience I have and lean on the preparation during the week," Collins said after replacing the injured Young in the 17-10 win over Jacksonville on Sunday.
No pouting in football
One thing Collins won't do is pout. When he throws an interception, Collins won't throw his helmet down. He won't go sit on the bench with his head down, leaving his offensive teammates wondering what's going on.
Collins has been through that sometimes excruciating part of becoming an NFL quarterback. All of them experience the valleys, knowing they are going to get too much of the credit when things are smooth and too much of the blame when it all goes south.
Pouting is not very becoming for an NFL quarterback.
"Part of playing quarterback in this league is the ups and downs," Collins said. "For a young guy, it's the hardest thing to learn sometimes. It's not easy. It really isn't easy.
"There are times when you are going to get booed. There are times when things are not going the way you want them to. You've got to fight through them, and I believe (Young) will. It's just part of the whole process. No quarterback has ever been immune to it."
Accountability issues
I don't think Titans fans booing Young on Sunday were as upset with his shortcomings in the passing game as they were with his reaction after bad plays or interceptions.
This isn't New York or Philadelphia. Players here won't get crucified for mistakes, but will get roasted if they don't man up to mistakes.
There were many days when McNair would rather have stonewalled the media after a poor performance. But no matter how he played, no matter what the outcome was, Steve McNair always showed up and faced the music.
If there is one thing Young can learn from McNair and Collins, it is to be accountable to your teammates, to the media, to the fans.
Collins thinks his teammates believe in Young.
"I really do," Collins said. "I think he knows that. He senses that. We all face adversity and I think he will handle it well and do things he needs to do for this team."
Until then, Collins will soldier on in Young's absence.
"Kerry's been in this situation before, a proven vet who has been to the Super Bowl," tight end Bo Scaife said. "Anytime Kerry steps on the field we know we've got a winner with us."
