We have a LONG history of NOT getting the 1 yard we need. I have no problem with them passing, I would have preferred the run myself, but maybe they were trying to catch SD off guard.

The tone of this thread would have been way different had we lost by 5. I just hope that play doesn't castrate Fox for future calls. After all a punt isn't a bad play

as well as we were running the ball we should have just ran it. Even if it had failed it would have established to the team that Fox trusted the run game.

That was my main problem. We're supposed to be this badass 'running' team so 4th and 1 we come out play-action? Maybe in week 13, but not in week 1. We have to establish a running team, you can't just say that's what you do. If you don't want to run inside (or can't) swing something outside. We have fast backs, let them utilize their speed. If the d was clogged up the middle, it should be fairly easy to throw it to the outside, especially with a wr like Moose blocking.

That play is on King, IMHO. Hoover's attempt was a last second bail-out attempt.

I really hope we see less of King this year.

Was I the only one screaming for Stewart on that play?

No, I also wanted Stewart on that play. I like Deangelo, but Stewart has already shown me enough to know he is our short yardage guy.

In fact I just joked w/friends about lining up Peppers as a FB in short yardage situations like that,,,, and then boom, a pass. They obviously fooled me too.
