    Damn active group.

Beason is rock solid. TD appears to have a comfort level at WLB. Connor was a steal, and will be nice depth and a solid ST contributor. Seward is showing flashes. Too early to tell about Landon--haven't seen him to anything positive thus far, but should fit in well.

Speaking of--looks like Diggs will start again, right?

The last I read is that Diggs will start, but they expect Landon Johnson to take over the job at some point.

I can't think of too many teams that have a deeper group of linebackers. I'm sure there are some, but having a guy like Seward who could probably start somewhere else but is scrambling to make our roster, it says a lot about our depth.

hard to find deeper or more talented in a 4-3.

I wish we'd take a guy like Shaw, actually, and make him a fullback. He's about as big a LB as we have, is somewhat compact, and seems more like a football player than a guy who takes as naturally to LB. He's also a guy who I think will get caught in a numbers crunch,
Hoover gets good enough pop, but it seems like sometimes the best runs for DW are misdirection where Hoover's drawing people away from where the hole eventually is. Plus, he's old, and while his versatility in he base O is good enough, if we're serious about running long term we need a long term solution.

Landon Johnson didn't look too good against the Colts to me. Especially in coverage.

I'm afraid you might be right. I noticed in the Indy game that he didn't see the field on regular defense until late in the 4th. That ain't good.

Agreed. As much as I love Hoover, if we're as serious about running the ball as the hype would suggest, we need a guy like Mack Strong or Lorenzo Neal blowing up linebackers for DeAngelo and Stewart.

well, it's just a matter of us being so deep. I'd rather keep him, v/s Anderson, since Anderson's more expensive and will be RFA after the year - if we're looking for a cheap backup Shaw has growth potential and a longer contract.
But, starting pair and the two fighting for the third job, plus Seward and Connor, is six. Curry is our best special teamer so he's still in play (despite that false start penalty, which if you notice the next play he creams the returner). He's not guaranteed a spot either. I actually don't think we need more than 6, being as how our depth is young, versatile, and talented, so I just don't think he makes it.
