I'm going d-slr before the honeymoon in October. I use nothing but Sony products for work and have enjoyed both Sony point and shoots I've owned. I've love to stick with Sony for the upgrade and I've heard they've made strides especially in 2008. To ya'll that shoot more often and much, much better than I, what's your opinion of the Sony? Do you think it's shit compared to Nikon and Canon? I don't need anything terribly fancy.

I'm no pro, but Sony is all I've ever used and will probably never switch - if you don't need anything too fancy, I'd just stick with Sony.

That's the one that jumped at me first, especially for the price. Is it really worth it to me to stick with Sony thanks to my loyalties? If it'd better serve me to go with a different camera in that class I'd have no problem with it.

What the hell is live view?

With that one you`re not stuck using just the Sony Memory Stick. Thats a plus.

    that's low-end pricing for a d-slr.

on to that, you need to add the cost of lenses, portable media, flash, storage and possible upgrades to your computer/storage to handle the increased file sizes and the software needed to process the images.

live view is being able to see the shot you're framing on the back of the camera, instead of just through the viewfinder. i think it's gimmicky on a d-slr.
