Favre has earned the right to waffle. Second best quarterback in the league last year at 37.

That's what TT is letting go for Aaron Rodgers.

The upshot is that Rodgers is in the worst position he could be in. Fans have already turned on him. First pick, they'll be on him. First loss, he will need to be put in the witness protection program. That's incredible pressure.

Someone made an interesting point on ESPN earlier. Do you think Barry Sanders would have been treated like this if he'd decided to come out of retirement?

The Packers should have traded in to NY for a candy bar a month ago. They were prepared to have nothing with him retiring.

Right or wrong, I think Favre just wanted to see what it was like to play somewhere else.

Now they have all kinds of issues to deal with from the fans and Rogers.

literally Rodgers has to be better this year than Favre was last year.

I wouldn't say that. I'd say Rodgers has to be better this year than Favre is this year. Or, the Pack has to win the division.

I'd bet $$ Rodgers goes down and Brohm has to play. And then they ahve a QB controversy, and then the franchise sucks for a decade.

Yeah, because running back and qb are the same position. that's a dumb comparison imhmfo.
i told someone i worked with that scenario earlier. with him complaining about not getting moss and all that, he basically set this up so he could leave without being "the bad guy." that's why he hasn't had any kind of press conference, he's letting the packers hang themselves.

I think he really wanted to go back to the Packers and couldn't believe that they were turning him down, at which point he wanted nothing more than to fuck Ted Thompson with a rusty fork (by joining the Vikings). Seriously, if you put yourself in Favre's shoes, regardless of how much you jerked them around you'd still be completely shocked by them saying they don't want you anymore.

I wonder if the Jets or the Bucs are talking to the Packers then turning around and working with the Vikes behind the scenes. I know the Packers can insist on a re-trade clause upping what they get but it's possible a deal could be struck if the Vikes really want him bad enough.

    yeah, i'd probably be shocked.

it's about like reading the politics forum. there's so much shit coming from both sides about lies and what not, i'd like to know the facts.

schottenheimer had a good point at panthers camp on sirius saying that it's the green bay packers position of qb and not brett favre's.

regardless, i think it's going to get even uglier. brian brohm comes out the winner on this whole ordeal.

I think guys like him should go out with some grace. You did not see John Elway or Dan Marino go out like that. Once you retire stick to it or at least work with your old team and understand that once you retire they have to move on and may not be able to give you your old job back.
