Indy was not made for NASCAR. Trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

mike helton looked like a damned fool trying to explain away the situation they were in. that was as piss poor a race as you'll ever see.

a track is a track. that tire was crap. Goodyear even tested there in April, knew what could happen, and brought junk tires.

some have pointed the finger at the COT and the lack of adequate testing for the tire/car combo at Indy. not once did i hear blame placed on Goodyear before, during, or after the race yesterday. but i was waiting for some inference about them. i'm guessing your sources are good ones mike.

this is not good for the sport. big stage - bad show, slumping ratings, all in the face of everything else hampering the economy and the related declines in sporting event attendance these days. helton looked really bad in that spot yesterday. not good for him either.

Vickers, Dale Jr, and a Dodge (I forget who) tested in April. Robin pemberton said he (and Goodyear) thought the tire rubber would wear into the track over the weekend. It obviously didn't, which makes me wonder what Goodyear saw in the test. It also begs the question why no Ford team was invited to the test.

for the most part--each manufacturer has minor differences to set them apart.
