    Is there anyway to estimate what a roof might cost?

    Ie... dollar per square foot of the house etc...

    I kind of doubt it. It seems to vary greatly from place to place and crew to crew.

    I just know that whan I bought my house in Clt. the roof and just been replaced for a cost of around $2,500...granted it was a small house. A friend was at the same time getting quotes for two housed he owned in Charleston and was quoted 13,000 a piece. They were bigger but probably only 1.5-2 times the roof surface.

    A lot depends on what type of shingles you want. 20, 30, 50 year, etc. architectural, or regular.

    Also depends on if they have to remove the existing shingles or if they can put another layer on.

    What exactly is an architectural roof? I've seen that and wondered.
