This has something to do with Hurney throwing that 2nd round tender on everyone, doesn't it?

I think they added that to be merciful to us...Hurney first round tagged three guys in 07: Carter didn't start, Gaines didn't make it through camp, and Carstens never put on a uniform.

I thought the second round tender started this year, but you're part right. Carter was a first, the other 2 seconds.

Near as I can tell when they first tendered people there was some thought on TBR that Carter got the 1st round but he got a second.

That's where bonuses would come in.

fair enough, I had remembered it initially as a 1. Regardless, we blow at RFA in an epic, undeniable way.

if it's incentives, that's never going to fly; if it's signing bonus, I don't see the difference between where we are now and this, other than that the guy that goes 32 gets too much money and the guy at 33 gets shaft.

We'd all feel better about it if we'd used that 3rd we got for RMJ on something other than a linebacker who is probably going to get cut this year.

even if we screw that pick up, we did the right thing. We put a guy out there and made the other team give up an important pick and a lot of money to get him.

We could've lived without any of these 2nd round or 1st round tender players in the last few years, if someone had put up the effort to get one of them. Witherspoon made sense to RFA high.
