I really never thought we would go 3-4, I was just saying that to imply Cowher would be our new coach and question the need to draft another linebacker when were already deep there.

I know one thin, is that you don'r want to fuck with Otah. He's big, and that is something we've been needing here, that bigg road grader at RT. It's going to be an asset in the running game. Now, we'll just have to hope he can be sufficient in the pass protection.

    Hahahaa

Well, no that's what I'm after. Just want to see Mtah make the plays we need. We can have the good running game, I know that. We need the run blocking, that backs we need, Williams Steward, Toefield, they can get it done. There's also Goings, who can be the guy. We need to get back to that power philosophy we had.

I know, remembe when Davis was stacking up all those 1o0 yard games? That's what I want again. I know the steroid issue and all, nonetheless, I think a bigger, more powerful line is what we needed to get back to. Gotta control the clock, keep the defense fresh.

I'm pleased with the guys we've brought in at guard because they will give us more in-line power than we've had in a long time, but I don't think the Otah move was a good one regardless of the trade value. Wharton is a better tackle than guard, and lacks the in-line strength we might get out of Fonoti and Vincent. Meanwhile Otah is a below average pass protector. Offensive linemen are generally one of the safest bets in the draft, but when they bust, it's usually the ones with the top-heavy, lead-foot body type. Guess what type Otah is.

Also, it's kind of weird to increase our power at guard only to go with a relatively smallish, technique-oriented center. I'm not saying I would have gone with someone other than Khalil, it's just an odd mix. In any case, I guess Fox's idea is to make the left side pass protection-oriented and the right side run-blocking oriented. I hope it works and I hope that Otah is better than I expect, but I have my doubts.

Otah does have some serious bust potential. Mike Williams coming out of Texas omes to mind. I also wouldn't have minded keeping Wharton at LT. He improved as the year went on and he was coming off knee surgery so he might get some of his push back. I like Kalil. He really can get to that 2nd level and get on the LB's, though I'm not sure how the rest of our line will do in that regard. Hopefully it all comes together because we've invested a shit ton into this line.
