Hackett: Panthers didn't guarantee starting job

Despite the rumors, the Carolina Panthers never guaranteed new receiver D.J. Hackett a starting spot to persuade him to come to Charlotte. "Nah," he said when asked if that had been part of the deal. "That's not my job; my job is just to play, so I don't worry about that." Hackett, who made several fine catches over the course of the five workouts, was talking at the conclusion of Carolina's minicamp practices Sunday. He did say that the chance to get considerable playing time figured into his decision. "Definitely, especially when you've got a good quarterback (Jake Delhomme) to throw you the ball. When you go somewhere and you're the only guy and the quarterback's not putting it on the money, he can't really help you." -- Charlotte Observer

Then who the fuck is gonna start? I think Steve Smith belives allot in Robinson...IDK?:dead-horse-fast2:

I thought he was a situational WR? I figured Smith Hackett Robinson then moose Jarrett is somewhere in there.

More like Smith/Moose/Hackett with Robinson taking the punt returns and an occasional look in the slot.

Hackett vs. Berrian last 3 years

    Hackett: 1394 yards, 9 TDs, 141 penalty yards for, 9.9 Yards/attempt
    Berrian: 1972 yards, 11 TDs, 115 penatly yards for, 8.7 Yards/attempt

Hackett played 6 games last year whereas Berrian played in all 16.

One thing Berrian did win is the contract category
