I'm not much of a fan of it. I wasn't for going RB at 13 and if they did I would have preferred Mendenhall. As most, I hated giving up next years first. I would also have liked to address the DL earlier.

I'm ok with it. Time will tell really. I'm not pleased with going RB at 13. I've commented on it earlier, but I hope it doesn't render Deangelo obsolete. hopefully someone can reassure me. If Otah sucks we are screwed harder considering what we gave up for his large ass. Connor pick was also hard to swallow considering he won't see shit for time except for special teams or injury.

He's good size (6-3, 300). Fits into what we would need from a #3 DT. Probably won't command the coin that a Darwin Walker will. On the flip side, he spent all of 2007 on IR with a knee injury. By value, I mean he would fit adequately into our rotation, at a decent price. Was a key player for Chicago in their back-to-back playoff seasons.

If the knee isn't ready, then to hell with it.

Coleman's out there, although he is a different type of DT (more of a one gapper). Still would welcome his presence. You could go with a pair of older two-gappers, in Ted Washington and/or Grady Jackson (not sure if he signed anywhere yet).

From a need standpoint, I'm concerned about DE. I openly complained about Johnson's lack of productivity in camp and preseason, and I predicted he'd even get cut a la Ellison.

So - if that's the case and he's ineffective, we have a big problem.

I'm obviously not counting on brayton.

the more i read about stewart, the more i love him. he quite possibly could be the face of the franchise for the next 10 years.

the only thing that will stop him is an injury. he's preformed lights-out at every level -- not just good, but great. better than everyone. he's a mega stud.

there is no comparison between him and mendenhall.

i think the panthers HAD to trade next year's #1 to get the o-line help RIGHT NOW to help ensure stewart's success.

    this was a franchise-defining draft.

Cool. I wonder if we'll revisit Walker....seems like we were about to sign him at one point, but the pricetag scared us off?

I know Walker has wanted to come here and play for the Panthers for a long time, since the draft, and since he went to the Bears---he mentioned the Panthers as a destination.

Seems to me, like it would be a good fit now, considering....
