I would have felt better about a second and two thirds. True, we need depth, but your chances of getting an elite player with two thirds is still a lot less than with one first. Unfortunately I think our first round pick next year is going to be a good one too. This scenario is playing out almost exactly like the 49ers taking Staley last year, thinking that he'd be enough to help put them over the top, only San Francisco still gave up a lot less.

They traded their 110th pick last year and their first this year for the Pats' #28 pick. We traded our '09 first plus the 43rd and 109th for the #19. That makes me feel even worse because I just assumed the 49ers had given up a similar amount, but they didn't. If you go by the trade value chart, we gave up 257 more points (already factoring in the difference between #19 and #28) than San Francisco did last year.

Christ. ANd look what their fucking OT did for them. Its just not impact.

I dont know that you trade your first for a guy who is not impact. Pass pro is great, and we all know we need it. But goddamn, man. I hate this shit.....

Well, actually, Otah sucks ass in pass protection, or will at the NFL level. It'll be nice to have him in short yardage and goal line situations, so it's not that I hate him as a player or anything, but it was a huge price to pay for a guy who will never even be average as a pass protector and thus is pretty one dimensional (even if he could be a great run blocking RT).

to me, that's over-reaction. Other than the idea of "never", if nothing else Otah is an athletic guy who has a huge frame to get around, that won't be seeing an edge rusher every down. Him being average at pass pro isn't that hard to do with his skill set.

Last year Cleveland gave up next year's #1 to move from #36 to #22.
This year we gave up next year's #1 to move from #43 to #19 (and threw in a 4th)

Not bad when viewed vs that deal. Again, it depends on how next year works out.

Since you all have given up on the season already, how 'bout giving me your season tix?

Athletic? Most sites list one of his weaknesses as a lack of athleticism, and I agree with that from what I've seen of his play. He's just not agile at all. He has heavy legs and can't move laterally with any sort of short area quickness. Edge rushers just blow right by him, so no, he'll probably never be even average in pass protection.

Since you're a mindless homer who won't tolerate criticism even when it's deserved, how 'bout just quitting posting on a discussion board altogether and go back to polishing Fox's knob.

instant analysis as a whole is probably one of the most mindless things you can do.

i hate the fact that we gave up a first for next year, but, wtf can i do about it.

gotta hope the brass made the right move. when the guys are big piles of shit halfway through the season, then it makes a little more sense to start bitching about the FO.

"We will suck next year" is not criticism. It's quitting.
