    This is from PFW...

“The West Coast offense is built around the ‘Z’ receiver. Just look at what happened in Green Bay. Greg Jennings had a great year playing the ‘Z’ spot as a rookie. He came out playing the ‘X’ in his second year, and James Jones moved into the ‘Z.’ Everyone started talking about how Jennings was a one-year guy and how good Jones was. No, all the production goes to the guy running underneath coverages. The ‘Z’ position was born to be productive in that offense.” [IMG] “Look at D.J. Hackett. He will go to Carolina and you will not hear much from him because he left the cherry — that ‘Z’ position. Look at David Givens leaving New England. If an offense uses the ‘Z,’ whether it be in three-receiver sets or even with two tight ends — the guy coming under drop coverages is going to be productive.”

I'm gonna guess he's gonna at least start in the slot.

edit: that quote is from some nfl scout

We'll probably mix up where we use him including routes and line up position.

The david givens thing is funny he played 5 games before getting a career ending injury...also aren't we supposed to be running an offense similar to NE????

If Moose starts, I don't expect to see him every down. If Hackett starts, I don't expect to see him every down. All three will be on the field on 3rd down, and that won't suck. In that, Moose will be on the outside, and Hackett in the slot.

Right now, all the buzz internally - Jake, Smith - is on Moose. We'll see how it pans out in camp. Good info one way or the other.

Moose will be better when the season starts than Hackett. Jake will look for him more. If Hackett does well though he may move ahead on the depth chart by year end.....

Most of what Hackett played last year was inactive.

Sounds like he was brought in to take Jarrett's job.

Yep. And at this point, I think Jarrett's job is anyone's for the taking. I'll bet Jarrett doesn't dress this season for a single game.

Umm... we don't usually dress 5 WRs.

Steve Smith, Muhsin Muhammad, DJ Hackett, Rhyne Robinson (kick returns).

Who, of the above, do you put in street clothes to dress Jarrett and why?
