now that's what I'm talkin' about. The pics are great - so is the work.

I can't wait to see that place when it's "done". (or sooner depending on when that is ) Glad I got to walk it when it was still a work in progress. You got a lot to be proud of there.

VI, mind if I ask how much a deck like that cost? I'm looking to build one this summer about 8' x 12' with 12' run back to a side door. There's a stone wall too close to the house on the side where the door is. The back yard isn't very large either. I just want a place to put a table and chairs.

i've got around $1500 in materials....lumber, screws, nuts, bolts, washers, concrete, a couple saw blades, drill bits and a new gadget or twelve. i did alot of lumber pricing at Lowes web site and i spent $20 of those bucks on their deck and patio manual. it was a good buy for someone like me who had never took on a job like this before. i also researched the internet for some good design tips too. your dimensions seem to be favorable to stock lumber sizes with little to no waste. good call and good luck. i hope you get done before the real heat arrives this summer.

oh yeah, my brother-in-law lent me his 20' trailer. it was a MUST for material aquisition as well as storage during this project......and the fence project....and the cabana project. be sure to keep that pressure treated wood covered up with plastic or it will warp before you get to use it.

the pool cabana is nearly finished. the deck has been framed and decking laid. the roof structure has been framed and metal sheeting has been ordered as of yesterday afternoon. i went with a pergola type roof design with some fancy-shmancy decorative cuts on my beam ends, i'll post some pics. my metal roofing is Carolina (sky) Blue on top and white underneath. i have the materials for the railing and will begin on Monday afternoon and should have that job finished by the time the metal arrives later in the week.

my son is coming home this weekend and he wants us to go to the lake on Friday, so imma get the boat ready......sometime.

Sweet. I may start on is in June. I'll have some extra cash then. I figured it would be a lot more expensive. I just want a basic deck that I can add to later. Multi-level, etc. I'm hoping to stick with the 4' rule to cut down on waste material.
